The Director of Athletics (AD) is responsible for the overall character, content, and quality of Saint Vincent College's intercollegiate athletic programs. In addition, the AD is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Athletic Department, fostering student-athlete academic support and success, and providing a strategic vision for the future of the department in alignment with the College's strategic plan. The AD reports to the Executive Vice President (EVP) and works directly with the College administration regarding matters related to the President's Athletic Conference, NCAA, and College's Strategic Plan. The AD will collaborate with other members of the Saint Vincent community to support the College's mission and Benedictine Values.Qualifications:Education:
Master's Degree in Sports Management or related field.Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of supervisory/coaching experience at the intercollegiate level with increasing levels of responsibility, or a combination of education and relevant experience.Essential duties
:Provide leadership to the Athletic Department, ensuring an environment that enhances student-athletes growth and the overall student-athlete experience in alignment with the College's mission and strategic plan.Analyze and manage budgets and ensure fiscal responsibility and sustainability. Develop plans to enhance the revenue-generating capacity through the external functions of the department including fundraising, sponsorship, etc.Ensure systems are in place to coordinate with enrollment management on the integration of student-athlete recruiting and College recruiting. Work with coaching staff to meet and exceed recruitment goals.Monitor the academic performance and eligibility status of student-athletes. Provide necessary support to ensure their success both athletically and academically.Oversee the administration of Intercollegiate Athletics, while maintaining accountability for its design, operation, and evaluation, ensuring compliance with institutional, President's Athletic Conference, NCAA, and state and federal laws and Title IX regulations, guidelines, and requirements.Support the professional development of the administrative and coaching staff in promoting their accomplishments and establishing positive morale and relationships.Ensure student-athletes are provided the academic and psycho-social support required to foster student success. Collaborate with campus partners to bolster student-athlete academic achievement, mental health, and well-being.Lead by example to create a culture of respect, integrity, and equity where compassion is a virtue, all teams and student-athletes are championed, and everyone feels a part of a winning team.Foster a vibrant and inclusive campus environment by working collaboratively with campus constituents to facilitate a positive student-athlete and fan experience. Partner and build relationships within the campus and Latrobe communities to develop additional opportunities to enhance the student experience and cultivate greater university brand awareness and reputation.Ensure that coaches, staff, and student-athletes are fully supported during competitions.Craft compelling narratives about Saint Vincent athletics, Division III values, and the unique student-athlete experience, which will motivate and inspire different audiences to productively engage with the College.Oversee the development and implementation of marketing, engagement, and fundraising strategies for Athletics alumni, families, and friends. Ensure strong collaboration with Advancement.Responsible for regulatory and policy compliance as it applies to the position.Other Duties as Assigned.
Job Requirements:Working knowledge and experience in fiscal/budgetary management.Superior leadership, management, supervisory, public relations, communications and interpersonal skills, including active and empathetic listening.Commitment to a competitive collegiate athletics program in the context of an academically rigorous environment.Ability to work successfully with students, faculty, staff, alumni and professional colleagues.Commitment to building and maintaining strong connections between athletics and the academic enterprise to ensure success of student-athletes to achieve both athletics and institutional goals.Commitment to integrity, equity, and diversity that contributes to the development of an inclusive campus culture.A record of achievement in NCAA athletics administration supporting a successful comprehensive intercollegiate athletics program.Demonstrated experience with brand marketing, public relations, media, community and campus engagement, fundraising, and budget/finance experience.
