Established as a community non-profit in 1972, The Center provides targeted programs and services to the full diversity of the San Diego LGBTQ community. The mission of The Center is to enhance and sustain the health and well-being of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, transgender, nonbinary, immigrant, and HIV communities for the betterment of our entire San Diego region. Our vision is to create a Center and Center culture where every person feels and knows that they are welcomed, valued, and supported. As the beacon for our regional LGBTQ community, we actively recommit to being a more vibrant, bold, innovative, safe, and modern center each day than the day before. The Center is sex-positive and provides advocacy and critical health and social support services to support our community members through all stages of life, focusing on our deeply held values of equity, social justice, and client-centered, trauma-informed care. The Center currently has over 75 staff working at five facilities across San Diego County.

As of 04/01/2023, the Center has relaxed its COVID-19 vaccination requirement for employment. New employees are encouraged but not required to be vaccinated. The Centre reserves the right to amend this requirement based on health concerns and/or governmental recommendations to protect the well-being of our community. If this requirement changes, employees will have 30 days to comply.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Facility Operations, the Facility Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of a facility. This includes managing facility resources, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and fostering a conducive working environment. The role requires a combination of organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills to address the diverse needs of the facility.

The Facility Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of all properties owned and operated by The San Diego LGBT Center. The position involves a diverse range of responsibilities that contribute to the overall functionality and efficiency of the facility. This position is also responsible for coordinating all maintenance activities in accordance with all policies of the agency and professional standards of excellence.

PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Facility Maintenance:

Coordinate and schedule regular maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.

Ensure that all Center facilities meet safety and regulatory standards.

Collaborate be site contact for all sites for external vendors and trade specialists.

Landscaping and maintaining the appearance of grounds.

Lead maintenance, inspections, and other needed facilities items at Sunburst Youth Housing and other Center properties.

Space Management:

Optimize the utilization of space within all Center facilities.

Coordinate office layouts and relocations as necessary and directed by the Senior Director of Facility Operations.

Maintain accurate records of space allocations.

Security and Safety:

Implement and enforce security protocols to safeguard the facility and its occupants.

Conduct regular safety inspections and address potential hazards.

Participant and member of The Center's Safety Committee.

Vendor Management:

Liaise with external vendors and service providers.

Obtain and evaluate vendor quotes for services.

Ensure service level agreements are met.

Administrative Support:

Assist in the planning and execution of facility-related projects.

Maintain records of facility-related expenditures and assist with budgets.

Handle inquiries and requests from facility staff and tenants at Sunburst Youth Housing Project.

Communication:

Communicate effectively with employees, management, and external stakeholders.

Facilitate meetings for facility coordination and updates with the Senior Director of Facility Operations on a recurring basis.

Required Qualifications:

Education/Experience

: At least 2 years of

experience with facilities maintenance, building operations, or a related field.

Professional Skills

:

Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with colleagues, management, and external contractors. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.

Personal Skills

: Outgoing and personable; comfort with speaking to staff and tenants about facility maintenance; familiarity with the LGBTQ+ communities and the work of The Center

Technology Skills

: Proficiency with PC/Windows-based environments, and Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Language Skills

: Fluency in English.

preferred QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience

: At least 2 years of experience with facilities coordination, knowledge of building systems, maintenance, and repairs.

Professional Skills

: Demonstrated competence in working with a variety of diverse populations.

Language Skills

: Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Compensation

: The pay range for this

position is

$24.00 - $26.00

and is commensurate with experience. This is a

Full-Time Regular Non-Exempt position.
