Job Description
The Operations Manager is a key leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, employee engagement, and regulatory compliance within Veolia Water Technologies and Solutions' production facilities. As the visible and active leader, the Operations Manager energizes and motivates a team of production employees, fostering a culture focused on safety, quality, cost-effectiveness, continuous improvement, and meeting production goals for water treatment solutions.
Key responsibilities:Oversees the regeneration of ion exchange resins and other water treatment media, while focusing on ways to improve processes and increase productivity.Ensures facility is meeting all regulatory and non-regulatory compliance obligations including, but not limited to wastewater permit and occupancy permit/business license and in accordance with design criteria.Develops and implements techniques and methods of process control which increase plant efficiency.Oversees preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.Confers with Gulf Plants Manager & Operations Manager on plant operational problems.Coordinates and works with the maintenance supervisor to oversee the preventive maintenance program of the plant.Oversees emergency and unscheduled work to assure appropriate follow through.Prepares reports for submission to Gulf Plants Operations Manager.Work with the EHS team to Implement, direct and enforce plant safety and risk management programs.Optimizes operations by creating, implementing & managing continuous improvement projects in the areas of chemical & utility usage, wastewater treatment, regeneration efficiency, water treatment equipment turnover, procurement, maintenance, & inventory managementOversees the requisition process for tools, materials, equipment, and services.Ensures all manufacturing / production functions at the facility are staffed and well trained to perform their duties effectively and responsible for all section personnel issues including hiring, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating.Develop and sustain a Safety Culture of Built in Quality in everything we do with a focus on Internal / External Customer relationshipsComplete all EHS training on time to ensure the facility does have a lapse on any permits and attend the Annual Permit Day.Host Monthly Safety Meetings and participate in Baytown Safety Audits.Complete MSVs and update the Training Competency monthly.Provide documented feedback to your associates at least quarterly.Ensure SAP transactions are timely and in compliance of Capex requirements (P&E + ELTO)Review / understand the Key Business Indicators daily and escalate any deviations immediately.Directly backs up the Gulf Plants Operations Manager and performs other duties as assigned by Gulf Plants Manager & Operations Manager.Attend one Training Workshop and I&D event per quarter.Lead at least 2 Kaizen events per year with a "Story Board" and identify Cost Reduction benefits.Qualifications
Qualifications/Requirements:
Highly desirable bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or Business withMinimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing/services environment leading a team of 10+ hourly staff.Desired Characteristics:
Knowledge of the disciplines of manufacturing management such as production and inventory control, variable cost productivity, and fulfillment metrics, quality systems, cost systems, and fulfillment metrics, and proceduresProficiency in MS Office Suite applications, specifically Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, & WorkAwareness of Lean Manufacturing process, Six Sigma & /or KaizenKnowledge of ISO 9001 QMS (nice to have)Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, & other governmental regulations (nice to have)Experience and/or Knowledge of water treatment processes such as deionization, softening, reverse osmosis & de-oxygenation (nice to have)Bilingual English Spanish (nice to have)
