Position Summary

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the execution of the financial day-to-day administration of the business including the monthly closing and provision of accurate management information on actuals and budgets. You will be reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, based in the Santa Monica, US and will work close together with the finance team members in the United States and Netherlands, ensuring effective and timely execution of Finance related matters.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

You will be responsible for day-to-day accounting functions, including bank reconciliation, assisting with the accounts payable accounting, preparation of supplier reconciliations and liaising with suppliers in resolving reconciling items, and preparing some schedules for month end close.Contribute in maintaining a fixed asset listing and rollforward for the purchase, receipt and accounting of physical equipment and combining the internal control requirements with the available application options in the accounting system.Extract and analyze financial information, assessing internal control processes and contribute to process improvements.Prepare journal entries and supporting document as needed as part of month end close, accruals, reclassification of balances, etc.Assist in the tracking of contracts and related costs across entities within NetSuiteAssist in preparing and providing support for tax compliance matters (personal property tax, income tax, and other taxes when assessed)Assist in preparing and submitting monthly financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, movement schedules) and management reports (in-depth actuals vs budget/forecast analysis).Collaborate with business control / operations in preparing forecast and budget information and reporting on this.Participate in cost-control activities.Support operational team on any other matters, such as ERP guidance.

Required Skills/Abilities

Applying a risk management mindset in the core finance processes.Knowledge of IFRS and / or US GAAP: Research & Development expenses and assets, Right-of-use assets and liabilities leases accounting, physical assets and inventory.Proficient to analyze, prepare and present data in Excel (performing X-Lookups on data sets and perform financial analysis).Read and understand invoices, vendor communication and contracts. Applying the conclusions on financial accounting consequences.Ability to prioritize and work to deadlines.Self-starter and able to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.You are an independent thinker and self-starter with a mindset of process improvement.Have strong attention to detailStrong communication skills to act as an enabler across the organization to derive and obtain financial information.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an accountancy or finance related fieldA minimum of three(3) years of experience in accountingDemonstrated experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical industry in a global environment preferred.Working experience in the field of the procurement and accounts payable function with knowledge of process management and accounting of incurred expenses, purchased physical equipment.Experience with the NetSuite accounting system is highly preferred.External auditing experience at a medium-sized or Big 4 firm is an added bonus.

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Santa Monica, CA is $115,000 to $135,000 . The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc.
