Director of Business Development
to join the team. This position will report to CGO with authority to lead, manage and integrate all necessary activities to identify, mature, and win opportunities. Specifically, the applicant will have a background in identifying opportunities with higher margins or creating/shaping opportunities based on unique company capabilities.
You should understand services and product type contracts, acquisition, logistics, technology integration, system and support fielding, and training. You should understand the organizational structure and mission the Unified Combatant Commands in the Department of Defense, the Department of State, and the Department of Homeland Security. You will engage with senior customer leadership and acquisition teams and provide guidance to HII proposal teams for producing a discriminating offer design/proposal in response to large, single, and multi-award contract bids or IDIQ Task Orders.
This position requires confident, knowledgeable, and hands-on leadership that works collaboratively with all stakeholders while staying focused on delivering a winning solution. The applicant will perform market and economic analysis, conduct business intelligence, design, and execute formal capture plans, support marketing efforts, and monitor market and competitor activity.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify opportunities that will yield high margins (10% or higher) that align with group capabilities and growth objectives.Work with the business units to understand their capabilities and leverage them to shape and create new opportunities or markets.Mature opportunities through the pipeline by conducting gate 1 then continue to provide support to capture managers throughout the opportunity lifecycle.Continuously monitor the market and competitors to develop and position our strengths/ competencies.Provide leadership, management, and oversight for pursuits/capture activities towards a goal of meeting / exceeding the business development metrics for awards, submits, and pipeline growth.Directly support the CGO to refine the overall strategic plan and coordinate the execution with the business units.Develop and maintain strong relationship with BD teams in the business units to ensure close cooperation on opportunities and customer engagements.Initiate and coordinate meetings with customers, competitors, clients, and teammates to develop market insight on requirements, acquisition strategy, acquisition timing, and contract vehicle choices.
What you need to have:
10 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant progressive experience.Previous experience and/or current relationships within DoD and/or CCMD.Experience with the successful execution of all phases of a large, multi-year capture effort, including strategic planning, shaping, competitive analysis, teaming, proposal development, and transition to execution.Have a portfolio of wins or depth in pulling opportunities from a concept to a contract with a client.
