Purpose:
Responsible for cleaning of equipment, equipment lines and production area to USDA standards.
Essential job duties:Hoses down all plant equipment, floors, and walls using cold-water rinse.Applies chemicals for cleaning, degreasing and sanitizing using sprayers and hoses.Applies a hot water wash down of sterilization.Shovels and sweeps up waste from daily production of meat products.Gather trash in carts and transports to trash compactor for disposal.Cleans drains and sewers in plant area by sweeping floors and transporting debris to trash area.Cover sensitive equipment for protection.Handles equipment and chemicals according to government, MSDS and company safety standards.Familiar with General Manufacturing Procedures.Complies with lockout/tag out program.Performs other duties assign by management.Working Conditions:
Frequently requires standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing to perform the essential job duties.
Work conditions vary, quitting time will vary based upon production needs, and flexibility is critical. Temperatures range from 30 to 110 degrees in processing departments.
Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment are present in the plant. Potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical, hazards are also present. The noise level is high and constant. Floors are damp and slick.
Must be able to bend, stoop, pull and lift up to 60 lbs., and to stand for long periods of time.
Knowledge:
To strive to meet all daily ship schedules.Know metal detector policy and proper handling of product.To keep the packing equipment and work area in a safe and orderly manner.Know and understand how to keep area clean.To have an up to date inventory of packing supplies.Have knowledge of sanitation procedures.Be willing to rotate jobs.Know and understand good manufacturing practices.Know and understand safety guidelines.Other jobs as assigned.
Education and Work Experience:
High school education or equivalent preferred. Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination. Ability to communicate and work well with others in a team effort.
