Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities
Iridium is seeking a Systems Engineer (SE) who will be the technical authority responsible for the entire life cycle and evolution of our SBD service. This will include responsibilities for all supporting products & services which comprise the SBD ecosphere. As the SBD SE you will also act as the Product Owner (within the context of the SAFe model) by being a key contributor to the SBD vision & road map, support the ART in delivering value to the SBD customers, maintaining communication with the Line of Business teams and managing the SBD IPT team backlog. In this role, you will work with technology leaders who are subject matter experts for the network elements, as well as senior management in engineering, operations, lines of business and finance to develop and align the SBD roadmap.What You'll Do:Serve as the technical authority and subject matter expert of the end-to-end SBD service
Build a deep and broad understanding of the SBD service, including SBD network components, interfaces and supporting servicesSupport the SBD team in the practice and implementation of CI/CD as well as SAFe/AGILE practicesWork closely with key stakeholders, segments and sub-contractors to ensure that the development remains on-track and delivers a high quality productManage the SBD backlogManage the SBD feature and defect backlogEnsure that required system analysis and trade studies are preformed as well as analyzing multiple data sources to respond to frequent, complex, and high impact situationsEnsure that all applicable Iridium SE processes are implemented and followed in managing the SBD productsWhat You'll Need to Succeed:The ability to confidently drive discussions, raise support for key ideas, and tailor your communication style to a wide range of audiencesThe creativity, resourcefulness, and decisiveness needed to manage risks and respond to critical situationsExperience in addressing the different elements of the service lifecycle of complex communications and/or space-based systemsExperience in SAFe/AGILE practicesBe a strategic thinker who demonstrates good judgment and decisivenessThe ability to thrive in a dynamic environment by handling multiple tasks according to deadline and budget limitations

Must
Bring to the Table::BS or MS degree in engineering or related technical field10+ years of relevant experience in the Satellite industryExperience working with software and hardware development, systems engineering practices, and integration of COTS equipment, COTS software and customer software for specialized applicationsFamiliarity with Atlassian Tool Suite such as JIRA and R4J and ConfluenceThe ability to thrive in a dynamic environment by handling multiple tasks according to deadline and budget limitationsWorking knowledge of implementing solutions in AWSWe'll Also Need You To
:Be willing and able to travel up to 25 %Due to ITAR, US Citizenship is requiredWork Environment:This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer.
