The

Administrative Director of Ambulatory Surgical Operations

has a solid reporting line to the Market Associate Vice President (AVP) of Ambulatory Surgical Operations and will work with the AVP and other key stakeholders and leaders to provide ambulatory surgical services operational expertise and joint oversight of the organizations ambulatory surgical and procedural business and operations across the market and is jointly accountable for both operationalizing and launching new facilities and organic top-line growth via increased volume, strategic service line growth in existing facilities, workforce planning and development, quality of care, patient experience and teammate engagement and establishing provider partnerships.

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist (AHWFB) currently owns three freestanding ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) and is in the design and construction phase of two additional centers, ultimately totally 22 potential operating rooms, 8 procedure rooms supported by approximately 450 staff FTEs with an estimated potential annual volume of 25,000 total cases across multiple services in both free standing and Hospital Outpatient Department (HOPD) settings. Additionally, other procedural centers, including endoscopy, pain management and cosmetic services will be phased into the oversight of the new division.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

MBA, MHA, or equivalent degree.

BSN, graduation from an accredited school of nursing and avalid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state or states where clinics are located highly preferred.

Minimum of two (2) years Ambulatory Surgery Center experience required.

Five (5) years health care administrative experience with progressively responsible management experience required.

Three (3) years in a management or high-level supervisory position.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION :

Certified Administrator Surgery Center (CASC) preferred.

OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Accountable for the planning, development, and implementation of approved operational and capital budgets. Identifies areas of need, determines feasibility, and makes appropriate recommendations in all ASC operational areas. Fiscal management responsibilities include reviewing and planning goals for each ASC asset.

Develop and facilitate surgery center goals, which are congruent with institutional goals. Ensures that procedures and controls are employed by each functional area and analyzes, develops, and monitors corrective action plans to meet established fiscal goals and reviews and evaluates the implications of proposed long- and short-term goals and strategic objectives.

Provides leadership in critical thinking, conflict management, and problem solving. Facilitates the development of policies and procedures including collaboration with medical, administrative or service line colleagues, as appropriate, in the development and approval of such policies and procedures.

Provides continuous quality improvement with quality 'indicators' to initiate and drive organizational change in an evolving cycle of continuous improvement and participates in planning, monitoring, and evaluating efforts to improve patient satisfaction/patient perception of care.

Demonstrates organizational commitment, ethical and professional behavior by serving as a role model for AHWFB values to staff, physicians and patients. Maintains appropriate confidentiality of privileged information. Participates in activities to promote professional growth and development.

Initiates, develops and maintains strong physician relationships to support top-line growth and trust and confidence in the AHWFB brand as a preferred partner including develops physician partnerships and marketing programs designed to drive case volume growth via partnerships with physicians, medical groups, health system partners, local employers and third-party payers.

Proactively collaborates with executive leadership to identify and implement best practices related to clinical quality, volume growth, and operational excellence including recommends, develops and executes short- and long-term strategic plans that drive best in class clinical, financial, and operational results.

Safeguards the ASC assets and ensures that the building and/or tenant improvements and equipment are maintained in good working order and in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and maintains center operations in compliance with regulatory requirements and accrediting body standards at all times.

Proactively collaborates with physicians to meet patient needs and exceed patient expectations and effectively builds and manages a team of high-performing clinicians to deliver excellent patient care while effectively fostering and sustaining a zero-patient harm culture.

Utilizes effective hiring and development processes combined with sound judgment and decision making to ensure a high performing team is in place in each ASC and provides teammates with the authority, accountability, training, information and resources to achieve their full potential and successfully drive performance.

Provides leadership in human resource development and management while acquiring and allocating human, material and financial resources for specific functions and processes. Collaborates with human resources department on the recruitment and retention of staff in all reporting departments. Serves as a professional role model and mentor to motivate, develop, and recruit, and retain future nurse administrators and clinical leaders.

Provide support including (but not limited to): Medical Records, Credentialing, Admissions/Intake, Accounts Payable, Billing, Collections, Insurance Verification, Transaction, Posting, Clinical Logs and other duties as needed.
