Sr. Director, Ambulatory Surgical Center Operations (240003JH)Description
The senior director of ASC Operations is responsible for directing operations to achieve the long-range and short-range goals and objectives of the organization as it relates to the ambulatory surgical center division, operations, and service levels. Leads and directs daily operations of ambulatory surgery centers owned and operated by Tampa General Hospital, often in joint ventures with others including physicians. Responsibilities include planning, development and acquisition of new and existing sites, improvement of financial and clinical performance of each center, and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance. The role has oversight of administrative and clinical operations and performance improvement initiatives across the portfolio of 4+ ambulatory surgery centers.
Work with local administrators to implement surgical best practices as it pertains to patient care.
Develop and maintain a strong partnership with physician leadership and Board Members.
Oversee a division of ASCs across a geographic area, providing leadership support to center leadership, employees, and physicians.
Plan and implement strategic initiatives across the ASC division that align with the goals and vision of the organization.
Prepare and submit operational and capital budget recommendations for the ASC division.
Work with ASC Administrators to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of patients through the facility and achievement of operational excellence metrics.
Oversee staff productivity by ensuring appropriate staffing levels to match volumes and industry standards; partner with ASC Administrator to review staff productivity/center volumes and recalibrate staffing and facility resources as required.
Monitor room utilization across the ASC division to achieve maximum efficiency.
Responsible for growing ASC’s revenue and works closely with various departments, including business development, managed care, and clinical, to support growth initiatives and to meet the business needs of the market.
Lead future ASC acquisition and ensure successful integration of acquisitions into the ASC division.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of regulatory compliance and quality improvement programs for the ASC division.
Oversee revenue cycle functions for the ASC division including but not limited to; scheduling, authorizations, registration, coding, and billing.
Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of experience in surgical services with at least 6 of those years in an ASC Administrator role. Experience leading multi-site health care locations required.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Hospital Administration, Business, Nursing, or Related Field.
Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong knowledge of AHCA, DOH, CDC, APIC, CMS, NHSN, NFPA-99, AAMI, and AAAHC regulatory requirements.
Strong knowledge of fiscal management and responsibility, business finance, capital funding, contracts, partnerships, and corporate governance.
Experience with strategic planning and business development across various markets.
Strong knowledge of budget development.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form with patients, staff, physicians, and board of directors.
Ability to facilitate and conduct governing body and quality, risk, and safety meetings.
Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
Experience with leadership skills, with a strong focus on mentoring and motivating an employee base of professionals.
