ABOUT THE ROLEis seeking a highly motivated and passionate Quality Engineer specializing in Failure Analysis to effectively lead root cause analysis and identify improvements for significant early product development projects like the zero emission transit bus programs. You will have high visibility within the broader GILLIG organization while working within a dynamic, fast paced manufacturing environment. You will possess a strong desire to be very hands-on when determining if an issue is design, assembly, or supplier quality related.

Responsible for Issue Management, tracking failure modes, addressing root cause, and verifying closure of issues from assigned owners.

Leads root cause investigations related to supplier material non-conformances.

Participates in numerous formalized Continuous Improvement / Lean Manufacturing initiatives.

Responsible for NPI electrical assemblies and electrical subsystems hardware

Drive issue resolution from root cause analysis to countermeasure implementation on electromechanical components and use analytical tools and techniques.

Administer of Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA) process and system

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering, or related field

Minimum of 5 years of experience having Electrical Engineering responsibilities in a manufacturing environment

Extensive knowledge and experience in circuit design, assembly, harnesses, electrical test, APQP/PPAP, as well as applying quality tools such as 8D, Root-cause analysis, etc.

Solid quantitative skill set and the ability to analyse, think and communicate with well-supported data.

Capability to ask the right questions, help frame logical conclusions and arrive at effective solutions.

Highly motivated with strong problem solving and organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task.

Strong demonstrable experience with electrical test equipment: power supplies, multimeter, oscilloscopes, and similar equipment

Knowledge of analogue, digital, and mixed signal circuit design, and analysis.

Understanding and command of circuit simulation and analysis tools.

Comprehensive experience with hand tools, basic power tools, soldering, and instrumentation.

Extremely proficient at reading schematics and troubleshooting

Working experience with IPC 600, 610, and 620 and related industry standards

Well versed in SAE J1939

Adept in problem solving skills like Ishikawa, Force-Field, Is-Is Not, Fault trees.

LabVIEW program development/Data Acquisition experience a plus

Experience with Electric Vehicles and high voltage power systems a plus

ASQ certification or equivalent is a plus.

Mechatronics experience is a plus.

Previous experience in vehicle or heavy equipment manufacturing preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Working environment is primarily indoors (office and production environment), however, at times job may require time spent outdoors.

Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk and occasionally kneel or squat.

Up to 20% domestic travel required visiting customers, assisting suppliers’ trouble-shooting components at customers, or supplier component validation.

Standard start time for this role is 5:00AM onsite.
