Reporting to the Associate Director of Campus Engagement, the Program Coordinator I assists in developing Office of Career Resources and Exploration programs, career advising services, and events for students of Rutgers-Newark.

This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:Supports the development of career-related content and programming efforts to deliver that content to studentsWorks collaboratively with university departments to meet the evolving needs of a culturally diverse student populationLeads in the design, planning, and execution of career community programs that may reflect industry information, social identities, or career development/career readiness conceptsPosition Status

Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesRequires excellent written and oral communication, organizational, analytical, administrative, and computer skills, and the ability to work well with a diverse student population.Requires a student-focused orientation with exceptional career coaching skills, knowledge of career development theory, and career assessment interpretation.Requires a high energy level, and receptivity to change is also essential.Preferred Qualifications

Masters in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, College Personnel, or other closely related field. Experience in higher education, especially in a career services office, is highly preferred.Experience with curriculum development and/or instructional design is also preferred.Working knowledge of traditional office equipment (i.e., copy machines, printers, fax machines, computers, etc.).Familiar with office software applications (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite and equivalents, database packages, calendaring applications, email services),Understanding of career services software, such as internship and employer database systems (i.e., Handshake, Symplicity, etc.) and career assessment instruments (i.e.,

FOCUS , Myers-Briggs, etc.), as well as emerging social media and online teaching platforms.Physical Demands and Work Environment

Must be willing to work some nights and weekends and travel when needed.Special Conditions
