The successful candidate will handle all litigation phases, from the initial response to summonses and complaints to preparing for and attending trials. This position demands a thorough understanding of insurance law and civil practice rules and the ability to manage high-risk and high-exposure cases. Answer summonses and complaintsInitiate and respond to written discoveryPrepare and respond to motions before the courtPrepare for and attend all necessary court appearancesPrepare for, including written submissions, and attend arbitrations where appropriateSchedule and conduct depositions and examinations under oath as necessaryPrepare for and attend trialsMaintain reporting procedures, such as file reviews and diary controlRequirements
J.D. (Juris Doctor) Degree from an accredited US law schoolAppropriate licensing and educational requirements maintainedMinimum of 3 years of experience in insurance defense on behalf of an insurance carrier, with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Automobile liabilityPremise liabilityLiability claimsHomeowner/premises liability
Experience in all phases of litigation, including trials to verdict, involving complex, high-risk, and high-exposure casesStrong understanding of insurance law, including the laws and rules governing civil practice in the state of practiceAbility to analyze legal issues, identify relevant case opinions and facts, and interpret laws, rules, and regulationsSkills and Abilities
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectivelyProficiency in legal research and writingStrong courtroom presence and litigation skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamDetail-oriented with strong organizational skillsEducation and Certifications
