We have an immediate need for a Senior Staff Accountant .The Senior Staff Accountant will report to the Controller and will support the finance department’s accounting activities.The following are examples of projects, responsibilities and tasks the Senior Staff Accountant will be involved with:Serves as primary liaison with outside accounting firm to coordinate and provide supporting schedules for the firm’s various Federal and State income tax filing requirements.Manages income tax estimates, coordinates composite tax filings for shareholders, and researches nexus issuesCoordinates and assists with the firm’s annual audit. Monitors and prepares audit requests, follows up as appropriate, and directs questions and issues appropriatelyManages the firm’s compliance and tax filing such as escheatment, assistance with trust rules and regulations, personal property tax, sales/use tax, etc.Maintains the firm’s financial ledgers and records financial data in a complex cash-based professional services environment. This includes reconciling cash and balance sheet accounts, creating and/or posting recurring and non-recurring journal entries and assembling supporting documentationPrepares special financial reports and account analyses as needed and recommendations by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trendsAssists the Controller with preparation of the annual budget, including communication with various budget owners, accurate recording of adjustments to budget, and monitoring budget variances as assignedAssists with the preparation of the firm’s monthly financial statements. This includes review and analysis of the income statement and various supporting schedules.Substantiates financial transactions by auditing source documents. Documents variance analyses with analytic schedules and reconciles financial discrepanciesMaintains financial security by following internal controls and recommends policies and procedures when appropriateAnswers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting dataSupports the accounting requirements of special entities associated with the firm, including shareholder investment pools and certain clients of the firmSpecial projects may be required on an occasional basis where weekend hours or a shift change could be necessaryThe successful candidate will possess the following:Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, CPA preferredPrior experience in a legal accounting department preferredProficient in Microsoft OfficeHigh expertise in ExcelBrownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck offers a benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401k + match, profit sharing, and vacation/sick/personal time off.
