Job Summary:The Physician Office Float will function as a resource forall the Physician Offices who will provide the effective performance of dutiesduring the absence of the normally scheduled non-clinical staff and isresponsible for covering various positions/functions. Courtesy andprofessionalism are a must in this position as this position often may be thepatient's first contact. Front Desk Receptionist Functions: Responsible forthe day-to-day processing of all patients as they enter the office. Responsiblefor verifying demographic information, obtaining the patient's signature asauthorization for consent to treat, scheduling follow-up appointments, updatingappointments for no-shows and cancellations, collecting patient co-pays andpayments, and distributing medical history forms and patient satisfactionsurveys. Helps ensure proper patient handling by following establishedprotocols and procedures. Central Switchboard Functions: Responsible forhandling all physicians' office phone calls coming into the facility andensuring that calls are forwarded appropriately. Is also responsible forprocessing documents within various comports along with processing the referralclinic documents. Central Scheduling Functions: Responsible for schedulingpatients at all locations, including specialty clinics by visitrules and existing guidelines. Special Project Functions: Responsible to managespecial projects as assigned. Essential Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent with a special interest in business or health-related fields. Basic office skillsincluding PC, typing/keyboarding, and phone experience are required. Familiarity with thehealthcare environment and medical terminology is an asset. Prior clericalexperience is desired. Must have excellent people skills, be able toadapt quickly to schedule modifications and be capable of dealing withvarious work environments, cultures, staff, and providers. Must become proficientat essential duties of each office. Must have Valid Drivers License and reliable transportation.
