Our client, a leading company in the plant-based food sector, is looking for a Commodity Financial Analyst in Minneapolis, MN. In this critical role, you will be part of the organization’s finance team, which has oversight across multiple U.S. manufacturing locations. The position is integral to the company's continued growth, as you will ensure financial activities are aligned with operational excellence standards. This high-visibility role provides a clear path for professional growth. Prior cost accounting, finance, or controllership experience with commodity food ingredients is essential, with grain milling and/or agricultural food ingredient manufacturing being highly preferred. Flexibility to work remotely from your home office 2 days per week will be granted after the initial training program has been completed and mastery of the role has been demonstrated.

Our client is a dynamic, rapidly expanding, privately held organization. They are experiencing significant growth as their ingredients are being incorporated into a wide range of baking and commercial/retail foods to provide distinctive flavor and nutrition.

Responsibilities

Execute month-end and year-end financial closures, analyze operational results, manage general ledger entries, and reconcile financial variances to established standards.Provide thorough account reconciliations and analyses to support the balance sheet for designated accounts.Perform reconciliations for intra- and intercompany transactions and activities.Verify that raw materials and finished goods are costed accurately, ensuring product margins are properly reflected.Undertake ad hoc financial modeling to assess the impact of changes in sales, manufacturing costs, or cost adjustments on finished goods pricing.Maintain strict adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Develop and sustain knowledge of manufacturing costs, product profitability, cost variances, and market-to-market computations.Qualifications

BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field is desirable, or equivalent work experience.3-6+ years of experience in Finance, Cost Accounting, or as a Financial Analyst, specifically with commodity or agricultural food products (e.g., grain milling, pet food, corn milling, quinoa, ancient grains, oats, spices).Strong understanding of commodity pricing, position tracking, and variance analysis, especially as it relates to raw materials directly tied to traded commodities.High level of proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/MRP systems; experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX is a significant plus.Genuine passion for manufacturing environments and comfort transitioning between office and plant floor settings.Demonstrated highest standards of accuracy, organization, and precision.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of effectively communicating financial results and recommendations to both executives and plant personnel.Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.Compensation includes an attractive base salary commensurate with experience, annual bonus potential, full medical/dental benefits, matching 401K, and paid vacation.
