Job Description:Houston office of national law firm with renowned energy litigation practice is seeking lateral attorney candidates with three to five years of litigation experience (classes of 2017-2020) representing clients in energy-related matters. Position involves providing legal counsel to clients on an array of energy-related litigation, arbitration, mediation and regulatory proceedings, including disputes involving oil and gas contracts, regulatory compliance, environmental issues, and energy infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include:
Conducting legal research
Drafting pleadings, motions and other legal documents
Drafting and responding to discovery requests
Arguing motions
Communicating and negotiating with opposing counsel
Taking and defending depositions
Preparing for and appearing at trial
Communicating with and advising clients
Staying up to date with energy laws and regulations
In addition to Oil & Gas matters, the Energy practice frequently represents clients on matters involving liquified natural gas, FERC enforcement proceedings, renewable energies (solar and wind) and other energy-related issues. Candidates will work directly with partners on all aspects of cases.
Candidates should have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a top accredited law school and be admitted to the Texas State Bar or be eligible for reciprocity. Compensation range is
$225,000-$265,000
(plus generous performance bonuses), depending on experience.
