Purpose
Responsible for performing directional plant and company safety related functions. Supports the plant manager and supervisors by achieving strategic results in relation to the safety function at the plant level.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlans, implements and coordinates safety programs and proceduresKeeps current with any changes in regulations and implements changes accordingly. Develops manuals, policies and procedures to ensure adherence to regulationsConsistent collaboration with other facility/site safety staff to support consistency and knowledge sharing across all sitesSupport and mentor the development of technical safety skills for team members and leaders in the facilityArticulate the safety vision and plan for the facility and engage the staff and team members in achieving that visionConducts or coordinates team member training in areas of safety, regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipmentEnsures appropriate risk/hazard assessments are conducted and corresponding follow-ups are implemented to minimize and/or eliminate incidents that have the potential to cause harm to one of the Company's team member, contractors, or visitorsEffectively communicates the health and safety goals, objectives, performance expectations, and metrics throughout the facilityPartners with HR and the Worker's Compensation program seeking to identify opportunities for improved safety performance and cost reductionPerforms and administers safety audits and inspects safety facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation complianceOversees facility safety inventory including supplies, equipment and training materialsAnalyze and utilize data to set safety priorities and develop action plansImplements company and plant related policiesSupports efforts to achieve the facility's performance indicatorsLead safety initiatives and goalsParticipates in and resolves internal safety investigationsCollaborate with company office and other facilities as requiredMay supervise subordinate staffModels company core valuesRequired Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene or related subject AND 5+ years experience in safety leadership position OR an equivalent amount of training, education, or experienceExpert level understanding and working knowledge of applicable occupational safety and health regulationsExcellent interpersonal, listening, written, verbal and electronic communications skillsStrong teaching, coaching, facilitation, and mentoring skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office applicationsExcellent problem solving and investigation skills with a focus on root cause analysis and development of sustainable corrective actionsAbility to build high trust work relationships at all levelsDemonstrated results in achieving and sustaining business goalsKnowledge of business and financial conceptsAbility to analyze and present data and interpret into actionable informationMaintain the highest ethical standards in dealing with confidential informationMaintain composure in high-pressure situationsAbility to work in and maintain a highly functional team environmentProven leader and results drivenPreferred Qualifications
