Aquatics DirectorJCC of Central NJ1391 Martine AveScotch Plains, NJ 07076The JCC of Central NJ is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to serve as the Aquatics Director. The Aquatics Director is responsible for the management, development and oversight of the Aquatics department, including creating dynamic programs, managing the budget, supervising staff, and engaging with members and program participants. The position is a 40-hour/week, benefit-eligible, overtime exempt position and is supervised by the Associate Executive Director. Hours are flexible, though some weekday evening and weekend hours are required.Key Responsibilities

GeneralOversee the management of the Aquatics departmentDevelop and evaluate Aquatics operational procedures and policies and recommend changes, as necessaryDevelop and monitor the Aquatics budget; modify Aquatics department operations throughout fiscal year to stay within budgetAttend scheduled staff and departmental meetings, agency staff training seminars and agency-wide special event programsManage pool rentals to outside agencies from start to finish, including contracts, relationships, and post-rental follow-upWork with outside vendors to manage and maintain pool chemical suppliesEvaluate and identify issues related to filtration equipment and air quality controlPromptly reply to phone calls and emailsAddress participant / parent concerns immediately and professionallyAdminister first aid/CPR AED if necessaryStay up to date on all required certifications for self and staffProficient use of department and agency softwareYear-Round Aquatics ProgramsSupervise, mentor, and motivate Aquatics staff including lifeguards, coaches, and WSIsInterview, hire and train staffMaintain records of staff certifications and trainings and ensure Aquatics staff certifications are up to dateWork with Assistant Aquatics Director to set and manage staff schedulesManage and maintain a clean, safe, functional, and attractive Aquatics areaEnsure highest level of Certified Pool Operator managementEnsure proper sanitization protocols and daily cleaning schedulesManage supply orderingDevelop and manage Aquatics department initiatives to enhance and increase member engagement and participationProvide technical expertise, instructor training, and directionConduct quarterly in-service education for staffCollaborate agency-wide to create a healthy community among staff and members across multiple departmentsEvaluate and enhance current programming to offer best-in-class swim lessons (private, group, adaptive, etc.)Develop method of continuous swimmer progress reports; ensure continued updates are providedWork with Marketing department on an ongoing basis to inform community of upcoming programsSeasonal Day Camp ProgramsOversee management of swim programs for the JCC's day camp, Camp YachadSupervise, mentor, and motivate Aquatics staff including lifeguards, coaches, and WSIsInterview, hire, and train seasonal staff in partnership with Camp LeadershipAttend Camp Leadership Team trainings throughout the yearOversee evaluation and placement of campers into appropriate swim levelsDevelop, maintain, and adjust camper swim scheduleManage distribution of periodic swim evaluation to camp familiesMinimum Qualifications:

Required SkillsStrong written and verbal communicationFiscal and records management and ability to develop, prepare and implement program budgetsStrong management skills including leadership, supervisory, problem solving and decision making, planning and organizing, adaptability/flexibility, and time managementExperience developing and managing a budgetExcellent Microsoft Excel skills and knowledgeAbility to lead a team, and inspire and motivate othersAbility to work positively with all ages and abilitiesPersonable, friendly and accessible to members and staffQualificationsBachelor's degree in physical education, recreation or related field is preferred or equivalent education and work experience in related fieldMinimum 2-3 years managerial experience in an Aquatics facility, JCC or recreational-based agency, including supervisory experienceRequired Aquatics certifications:

Lifeguard, WSI, and CPR/First Aid/AEDAngel Fish (or willingness to get certified within 3 months of hire)American Red Cross LGICPOPool Director
