Anduril seeks an experienced and highly motivated Employment Counsel to add to its growing Legal Department. This attorney will be able to leverage their prior law firm and/or in-house experience to provide thoughtful and strategic employment guidance for a fast-paced company at the early stages of growth. Consistent with the rest of the members of Anduril’s Legal Department, you must be resourceful, creative, nimble, and eager to take ownership of complex matters.

As the second member of the Employment Legal Team and reporting into Anduril’s Employment Counsel, the Legal Counsel-Employment will be a strategic partner to Anduril’s People Team and other business stakeholders. You’ll be tasked with providing expert legal advice and counseling on a wide range of employment issues across the organization and offer practical solutions that are aligned with business needs. In order to succeed in this role, you must be able to think critically, exercise sound judgment in the face of competing interests, and act as a client-focused resource to a broad set of internal teams. Having a strong work ethic, a willingness to roll up your sleeves to dig into problems, and taking pride in being a trusted advisor are a must.

What You’ll Do

Provide legal advice and guidance on a wide range of employment issues including recruiting, hiring, termination, employee relations, wage and hour, workplace accommodations, employee benefits, compensation, immigration, and associated best practices.

Partner with the People Team and provide day-to-day support on discrete employee matters such as investigations into misconduct, performance management issues, and addressing potential conflicts-of-interest.

Support complex projects with cross-functional partners to enhance company-wide employment law compliance through development of protocols for programs such as conducting workplace audits and classification reviews.

Draft, review, and maintain global employment policies and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Prepare and revise a variety of employment agreements, both domestic and international, including but not limited to offer letters, contractor agreements, and vendor agreements.

Maintain self-service tools and employment-related resources in support of the People Team and other internal stakeholders, including relevant training materials.

Facilitate collection of data and preparation of state and federally-mandated employment reports such as EEO-1, California Pay Data, and OFCCP.

Review and evaluate HR platforms and provide guidance on features to enhance employee experience and compliance.

Assist in investigations and respond to inquiries or charges from state or federal agencies regarding employment-related claims or disputes.

Provide tactical support to outside counsel on all types of employment-related claims and litigation, ensuring alignment with the company’s broader legal strategies.

Work closely with specialized outside counsel to manage risk and ensure that internal partners receive effective, business-focused employment law support.

Perform other duties as assigned by the General Counsel in support of business needs and/or the Legal Department.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of employment law experience practicing at a leading law firm and/or in-house at a large company

Deep knowledge and understanding of U.S. and California employment laws

Significant comfort in advising on a variety of HR issues, either through law firm experience or in-house

The judgment and initiative required to own multiple projects from end-to-end

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a service-first attitude

Fast and effective writer for internal document (e.g., template, policies, etc.) creation

Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to think quick and manage shifting priorities

U.S. Person status is required because the role requires access to export controlled information

Licensed to practice law in CA or DC

Wiling and able to work in Anduril’s CA office

Willing and able to travel 15% of time to the other Anduril offices, both domestic and international

Desired Qualifications

Combination of law firm and in-house experience

Prior experience supporting an international workforce, including global mobility

Experience with workplace safety regulations and compliance, including OSHA

Experience with engineering, software, or other technology companies

Experience with M&A and integrating newly acquired companies
