UX Researcher/Designer
to join our team.The UX Researcher/Designer is the sole UX voice on an eight-person Scrum team working to develop and deploy new online tools for our federal client.Either US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required for this role. In addition, the selected applicant must submit to a government background investigation and be favorably adjudicated before their first day. Although this is primarily a telecommuting position, candidates must reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area due to the need to attend periodic on-site meetings and events.RESPONSIBILITIES:Research usability and customer experience in the federal government spaceIdentify target user groups and carry out interviews or other types of inquiry to help understand user needsGuide the implementation of UX research techniques and testing activities to assess user behaviorClarify requirements and segregate them into functional and non-functional categoriesPresent solutions, ideas, and recommendations that serve the requirementsDocument the discussions, concepts, and the finalized scopeCreate designs that align with the user’s needsPrepare mockups, prototypes, wireframes, and interaction diagramsOversee and contribute to the development of the screensConduct testing to validate that the developed functionality is in accordance with the scopeContinuously research and strive to understand audience needs better and improve the existing systemsREQUIRED SKILLS:A minimum of 4 years of experience in UX/UI research and designExperience planning and facilitating a range of research types from usability testing to exploratory discovery projectsExperience collaborating with technology product teams to include product managers, designers, and developers in researchAbility to understand business metrics and translate company goals and objectives into digital experiencesKnowledge of industry tools such as Adobe, Zeplin, OmniGraffle, Illustrator, and SketchKnowledge of government culture, digital government strategy, and OMB policies for federal public websitesFamiliarity with The Plain Writing Act of 2010 and the e‑Government Act of 2003 — Accessibility, Usability, and Preservation of Government InformationKnowledge of accessibility requirements associated with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation ActThorough understanding of user interface design, information architecture, and human factorsUnderstanding of graphic designing and UI designing conceptsExceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skillsAbility to handle and coordinate multiple projects at onceDocumentation and articulation skillsInnovative and creative outlookGood command of spoken and written communicationEDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related discipline is highly desired. An additional four years of UX experience may be acceptable in the place of a degree.Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is a job requirement.
