A healthcare network in New York City is actively seeking a new Internal Medicine Physician / HIV Specialist to join their staff in Brooklyn. In this role, the Internal Medicine Physician / HIV Specialist will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to HIV patients and management of common and complex diseases.
Responsibilities
The Internal Medicine Physician / HIV Specialist will:Diagnose and treat acute illness, as well as chronic diseases and conditions, such as hypertension, heart disease, or diabetesMaintain a clinic panel of people living with HIV and other patients appropriate to ongoing infectious disease oversightPrescribe or administer medication, therapy, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injuryExplain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patientsMonitor patients' conditions and progress, re-evaluating treatments as necessaryProvide health and wellness adviceOrder age-appropriate screeningsAdhere to documentation and quality standards set by New York State and any other standards implemented by the Chief Medical OfficerRefer patients to other medical specialists, when necessaryMaintain an ongoing relationship with back-up hospital and its professionalsComplete other tasks and responsibilities as assignedQualifications
Graduate of an accredited Medical or Osteopathic schoolSuccessful completion of an accredited Residency programNew York State Licensed Physician M.D. or D.O., and in good standing with all regulatory agenciesBoard certified in Internal Medicine and in good standing with their Board-Certified Academy2+ years of experienceComputer proficiency with efficiency in using electronic health records systemsValid DEA number to prescribe medicationsAnalytical skills in determining best treatment plans and decision making when presented with patient complaintsDesired Skills:
