Job TypeGraduateJob InstitutionNorth Dakota State UniversityJob DescriptionThe Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at North Dakota State University is seeking motivated applicants for two Ph.D. positions in Environmental Engineering at Dr. Xu’s group, starting in Fall 2024 or Spring 2025. Dr. Xu’s group is working on applying novel physical-chemical technologies to overcome challenges in water treatment. A fully funded assistantship will be provided with waived tuition, stipend, and other benefits.The first project will focus on UV disinfection and control of antibiotic resistance. Ideal candidates are expected to have a background in environmental microbiology and water disinfection. The second position aims to investigate the fate and transport of DBP and/or PFAS in engineered systems. The candidate should have expertise in environmental chemistry and analytical chemistry for organic contaminants. Candidates with MS degree and experience in disinfection or analytical chemistry are highly encouraged to apply. Strong written and verbal communication skills, a self-motivated attitude, and the ability for independent work are expected.
