The LightHouse is currently in a period of growth, increasing our capacity to serve more low-vision and blind clients.*Blind/visually impaired strongly encouraged to apply.*Please note the terms and conditions of this position may be subject to change, once a Union Collective Bargaining Agreement is in place.OVERVIEW:LightHouse is seeking a part-time Customer Service associate to join our team at a small retail store specializing in providing accessible products, devices, and technology for individuals who are blind and visually impaired. This role will involve onsite customer assistance, support for staff, and online order completion through our Shopify website. The ideal candidate will have a passion for accessibility, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic retail environment.QUALIFICATIONS:Prior experience working with adults with disabilities highly desired.Excellent people, communication, and teamwork skills.Excellent standard of professionalism; reliable and punctual.Attentive to detail and ability to follow directions thoroughly.Work effectively under pressure and remain calm in high-stress situations.Enjoy working in a fast-paced, highly diversified environment.Able to communicate effectively in English, verbal and written, in person and by phone (other languages highly desirable).Ability to perform computer work within the Shopify environment and operate standard office equipment.Proficiency in using Outlook, Excel, Word, Microsoft Office.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide exceptional customer service to in-store and online customers, assisting them in locating products on the website, fielding basic, entry-level inquiries, and aiding customers in completing their purchases when they call for assistance.Transfer incoming calls to appropriate LightHouse departments.Collaborate with staff to maintain a clean and organized store environment, ensuring products are displayed effectively and shelves are stocked.Schedule appointments for customers and groups wishing to shop at an Adaptations location in person.Stay informed about new products, technologies, and advancements in accessibility to better assist customers and contribute to future product selection.Assist in processing transactions, including cash, credit and gift card transactions, authorize returns, and process refunds by phone upon request.Offer input and feedback to contribute to the development and implementation of strategies for promoting new and existing products.Troubleshoot basic issues and provide guidance on “next steps” to follow when customers call with an inquiry.Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance product knowledge and customer service skills.Maintain a positive and collaborative attitude, working effectively as part of a team to achieve ongoing goals and objectives.Ability to perform other related duties as assigned.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach.Must have the ability to lift up to 20lbs.Ability to sit at a desk and perform computer-intensive work for extended periods daily.Ability to operate standard office equipment.Ability to independently travel to all LightHouse campuses and throughout the community as needed.WORKING CONDITIONS:LightHouse is an equal opportunity employer.
