Job Summary:

La Rabida is currently recruiting a food service supervisor to join our food service department in Chicago, IL. We are a small children’s acute care hospital focused on treating complex medical conditions, chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities, and abuse and trauma.

The Supervisor serves as the secondary point of contact and will assist in maintaining and ensuring all internal and external documentation on all matters for “CMS”, “IDPH”, “Joint Commission”, in accordance with the current applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines and regulations, and/or all Other Agencies/Departments Having Jurisdictional Authority over Standards, Policies, and Operational Procedures. Maintains coordination and administration of all operational activities, dietary formulas, feeding tube, supplements, clinical diet, inventory controls, equipment, and systems functional/operational readiness. In the absence of the Manager he/she will oversee all departmental operations, contractual agreements, personnel, schedules, and also prepare statistical data and reports.

Essential Food Service Supervisor Functions:

Assist with maintaining and ensuring all internal and external documentation on all matters “CMS”, “IDPH”, and Joint Commission, are up to date and filed.

Regulates dietary formulas, supplements, clinical diets.

Manages and controls inventory.

Oversees departmental operations.

Prepares statistical data and reports.

Directs the operational functions to maximize efficiency of resource.

Assist in preparing written and oral reports on a monthly basis concerning the departments total operating expense.

What we need from you:

Registered Dietician Certification with Commission on Dietetic Registration - required.

Chicago Department of Public Health Certified Food Service Manager certificate within 6 months of hire - required.

Chicago Department of Public Health Food Sanitation Certificate - preferred.

5 years in Food Service Experience – required.

3 years of management Experience – preferred.

Associates Degree in Food and Nutrition/Dietetics or Hospitality/Institutional Management – preferred.

Experience with both retail and patient food operations - preferred.

Computer literate - required.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point) Adobe Acrobat, and Social Media web platforms - required.
