Our Finance team is collaborative, balances personal and company growth mindsets and maintains a commitment to timeliness, accuracy and completion. In this role, you will have opportunities to further your expertise as an accountant through project contributions within Finance and across other departments. You will report directly to the Senior Accountant, and will regularly work with leadership at the executive level, including our VP of Finance.Who You Are
You have a solid knowledge base in Accounting as evidenced by your past responsibilities in payroll, billing, month end close and support of third party audits. You bring the ability to complete account reconciliations, book journal entries and identify exceptions requiring investigation. Your experience enables you to identify situations that require scrutiny, and you know when to pursue resolution independently and when to ask for guidance. You are intellectually curious about the “why” behind the task, are continuously learning how Finance supports and connects to the broader business operations and motivated by opportunities to deliver excellent work. Additionally, you have:Held a general staff accounting position for a minimum of 2 yearsKnowledge of GAAP with demonstrated proficiencyPrepared month-end balance sheet reconciliationsPerformed General Ledger journal entriesHeld the responsibility for Accounts Payable org-wideDemonstrated full oversight of Accounts Receivable/BillingExperience with Daily Cash ReconciliationsLiaised effectively between Finance and Sales, Marketing, HR, Operations and other internal or external stakeholders including Banks and AuditorsDemonstrated a proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, Quickbooks, Dynamics, Netsuite or similarDemonstrated a Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel, and in the Google Suite of products including Sheets and SlidesStrong communication skills, both written and verbalStrong organizational and stress management skillsAn ability to work with little to no supervisionWhat You’ll Do At 8th Light
You’ll establish and maintain relationships across the organization and with external partners. During your time as a Staff Accountant at 8th Light you will also be responsible for:Entering data for and reconciling general ledger accounts, including, but not limited to, cash, credit card, accounts payable, accounts receivableSending all approved information for new client setup (W9, bank info, new vendor setup in portal)Weekly & Monthly InvoicingWorking with the Fixed Asset LedgerHandling Collection calls & emailsMaintaining balance sheetsCarrying out month-end close activities in a timely and accurate fashionAssisting with annual third party financial statement review (or audit) preparationsInvestigating and resolving account discrepancies and other findingsLiaising with HR on payroll accounting, changes, tax and regulatory reporting and complianceMaintaining operations data reportingContributing to existing/ evolving accounting systems, programs, and procedures by implementing changes and/or streamlining processesDocumenting any process or policy changes to ensure procedures are up to dateCreating ad-hoc reports as neededPerforming other accounting duties as neededNice to Have
