Product Development Assistant

to join our growing team

on site

in Hicksville, NY!

This position is responsible for supporting the product development process to ensure customer needs are met and exceeded. It is an AMAZING opportunity for a

recent college graduate

with product development internship experience to learn how we make our incredible confectionery, souvenir, and branded products!

Responsibilities include all aspects of pre-production development including researching, purchasing, and sourcing new or existing products, and maintaining accurate documentation. Will support multiple teams across the product development process.

Essential Functions:

Assist with the development of new products across multiple lines of business

Support requests from internal stakeholders and sales teams to fulfill private label and branded confectionary programs

Utilize insights in development of new product and packaging ideas

Coordinate new product development including market & product research, competitive analysis, timeline development, sourcing, costing, packaging, and pricing recommendations

Assist with product costing breakdown and bill of materials development, including raw materials, components, labor, and other costs to determine pricing

Manage and fulfill sample requests for evaluation, customer meetings, and trade shows.

Work with Quality Control to ensure all new products and packaging are vetted for vendor documentation approval.

Communicate with domestic and international third-party vendors in sourcing new products and packaging, and obtaining current costs, samples, and specifications to build final costing and business recommendations.

Work with Marketing and Creative on communication materials supporting new product launches

Collaborate with PD team members to support department initiatives

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or internship experience in related field preferred

One (1) to two (2) years’ experience in Product Development or Product Management in a

manufacturing or CPG organization

Process-oriented, can execute and introduce systemic process

Dynamic multi-tasker; can prioritize, balance, and support multiple initiatives

Possesses an organized, detail-focused approach

Ability to problem solve effectively and creatively

proficient in all Microsoft Office applications with advanced Excel skills

Working knowledge of sales cycles and experience supporting Sales staff and customers.

Communicates effectively – both verbally and written

Previous experience with costing or P&Ls, a plus
