Staff Accountant
Responsibilities
Staff Accountant will file sales & use tax and property tax returns for all state tax returns (Organization is not represented in all states. There’s a calendar to follow with which state needs what done each month.)Staff Accountant will create invoices– heavy data entry into Great Plains. Staff Accountant will create between 10-20 invoices/week. Some of the invoices are more complex.Staff Accountant will enter contracts into Great Plains – lots of analysis and data entry. Staff Accountant will open and read contract and confirm the financial information is correct.Staff Accountant will assist with ad hoc accounting tasks and projects, as requested
Requirements
3+ years of accounting experience (with emphasis in AR, GL, and reconciliations)Ideally previous sales tax liability exposurePrevious nonprofit accounting experience is a plus but NOT requiredDegree is a plus but not required as long as someone has relevant work experience and strong understanding of debits and credits Must have previous ERP system experience (Great Plains is a plus but NOT required)Experienced utilizing Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel (sum, sorting, filter, able to create a basic spreadsheet)

Must be analytical – review work and think through before entering dataHard workingDrivenWillingness to learn and open to cross training (team members are trained on other responsibilities in case of an emergency)Positive attitudeProactive and clear communication skillsNot afraid to ask questionsTeam player but also able to work independently
