Staff AccountantSummaryThe Staff Accountant is responsible for managing all accounts receivable and accounts payable. This role assists the Controller in directing the financial activities of the hotel, safeguarding the assets, and preparing all financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and hotels’ standards.Essential FunctionsOverseeing day-to-day finance operationsAssisting with account collections and account agingMonitoring and managing relationships with vendorsHandling all vendor inquiries and reconciling vendor statementsManaging all client inquiry/requests for financial informationResearching and resolving guest bill inquiriesManaging group clients from a financial standpoint from inception to completion of programWorking with hotel accounting systems including Opera, Great Plains, and MicrosPreparing and posting month-end closing entriesProducing and distributing monthly financial packetsPerforming balance sheet reconciliationsPreparing monthly, quarterly, and annual taxesProcessing all approved invoices for payment, ensuring that all appropriate signatures and back-up are includedSorting and verifying accuracy of Night Audit work, including reconciliation of banquet check extensions, coding of banquets at cost, reviewing and routing sales and promotion checks with back-upQualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s Degree preferredPrevious experience in finance requiredPrevious experience with Opera preferredA minimum of two (2) years’ experience in customer serviceExcellent written and verbal communication skills requiredStrong analytical skills requiredKnowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookPhysical RequirementsMost work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems. Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 8 hours a day. Walking and standing are occasionally required. Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
