Non-ExemptSummary:Under general supervision, but following established policies and procedures, performs all teller functions as well as other duties requiring additional knowledge and experience, such as opening new accounts and consumer loans, selling and redeeming bonds, selling traveler's checks, processing clerical work through the area, and assisting tellers with complex balancing and other work-related problems. Oversees and adheres to requirements pertaining to branch security, fraud prevention, and BSA.Responsibilities

II. Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

Represents the bank to the customer in a courteous, professional manner. Furnishes prompt, efficient, and accurate service in processing transactions.Performs all teller functions, such as processing deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments; initiating passbook loans, and performing other filing and clerical duties.Opens a variety of new savings, certificate, IRA-Keogh, and checking accounts, and determines customer's needs. Explains various account and ownership options, providing the counseling necessary to meet the stated needs, and obtaining the required information. Prepares all documents and paper work, assists customer with signing documents necessary to complete transaction, receives initial deposit and/or transfers funds from existing account or prepares sight draft to obtain funds from other sources, and enters transaction in customer's account record.Processes a variety of account transactions. Receives cash and negotiable instruments for deposit, inspects and verifies negotiable instruments, verifies cash amounts received, accepts withdrawal authorizations, verifies signatures, investigates account holds, and obtains necessary authorizations. Explains penalty interest, ensures accuracy of cash amounts paid out, prepares checks or money orders, and so forth.Receives payments on loan accounts. Inspects and verifies negotiable instruments and cash offered for payment, ensures that payment equals coupon amount, verifies acceptance, and obtains proper authorization of amounts less than the coupon amounts. Enters payments received into the bank's records via on-line computer terminal.Performs a variety of additional customer service transactions, such as certifying checks and accepting stop-payment orders and rents. Closes out rentals of safe deposit boxes, handles wire transfer authorizations, and sets up such tasks as preauthorized transactions, direct deposits, and changes of address.Performs such back office duties as filing, preparing form letters and billings, completing transaction-generated paperwork, and verifying incoming cash shipments.Assists other tellers in balancing daily transactions, verifying tickets, counting cash, and daily balancing of the teller area. Helps tellers with complex work-related matters, i.e. check cashing, loan set-ups, and interest penalties.Responsible for managing Tellers and operating the vault.Assists with end of the month reports.Performs other duties as assigned.Required

III. Skills and Abilities Required:

A high level of interpersonal skills necessary to represent the bank in a positive fashion in dealing with customer/teller transactions. Capability to relate to and empathize with other people and to maintain a friendly, cheerful demeanor throughout the day.Thorough knowledge of an on-line teller terminal and other standard office equipment, such as adding machines and typewriters.Requirements

IV. Minimum Requirements:

A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.One to two years of job-related experience, including formal teller and new accounts training.
