Staff Accountant

to join our team! This is a full-time (40 hours/week) remote/in-office hybrid opportunity to put your skills and knowledge to work in an engaging and rewarding work environment.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate and ethical work in the accounting department under the direction of the Accounting Manager. The Staff Accountant performs various accounting duties to help support the following areas for SafetyCall International (SCI) and Pet Poison Helpline (PPH): accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliation, general ledger and other areas as assigned. The Staff Accountant is expected to perform duties by the mission, vision, values and principles of SCI in order to support and advance the company.

Manage vendor invoice analysis, tracking and files.Assist with the processing and recording of accounts payable transactions, ensuring vendor invoices are accurate, approved and that all invoices and staff reimbursements are paid accurately and in a timely fashion in accordance with SCI policies and procedures.Process payments through QuickBooks and mail checks while in office on a weekly basis.Assist with billing data for long distance telephone calls.Download and distribute monthly company credit card reports to employees. Review, code to the general ledger, and attach all associated receipts.Assist in managing journal entries into the general ledger including inputting data and reconciliation.Assist with month end reconciliations and reporting to support other departments.Assist with reviewing payroll reports and preparing journal entries for input into QuickBooks.Assist with gathering data and information to report for our annual research & development tax credit.Complete monthly, quarterly and bi-annually sales and use tax filings.Complete filing and archiving of accounting documents as assigned.

We are looking for someone who has either an associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting OR 3+ years work experience as a Staff Accountant, Accounts Payable Specialist, GL Accountant or equivalent position. The ideal candidate will have experience working in QuickBooks or a similar accounting software with willingness and capability to work with and learn multiple software programs. We are looking for someone who is willing and able to work well with various members of the team and who takes a proactive approach to problem solving and completing tasks in an ethical, efficient and effective manner.
