The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting the Accounting Department by providing financial information to management through researching and analyzing accounting data.

Responsibilities:Prepare bank reconciliations and resolve reconciling items in a timely mannerCompile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accountsJournalize store level expenses for items such as utilities, store repairs and maintenance, travel expense, and field bonus as well as expenses associated with various credit card accountsPrepare reconciliations for assets and liability accounts, including resolving reconciling items in a timely mannerPrepare account analyses on balance sheet and income statement and attend meetings with management to explain account changes, adjustments, and irregularitiesAssist internal and external auditors in gathering information in an organized and timely mannerComplete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activitiesPerform special projects as assigned by management and senior members of departmentEducation and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related fieldCPA or CPA candidate preferred0-2 years of experience in related role, public accounting experience a plusExperience with USGAAP and the accrual basis of accountingSkills and Behaviors:Familiarity with large General Ledger system, SAP, and Hyperion Essbase is a plusProficient in Microsoft Office; advanced skills in ExcelAbility to learn quickly and possess a strong interest in growing in accounting and/or financeStrong organizational skills and ability to multi-taskAbility to adapt to change quickly and easily and shift approach in response to the demands of the situationDemonstrated flexibility especially during month-end and year-end closing processesAbility to work in a fast-paced and time-sensitive working environmentAbility to work independently as well as work well in teamsStrong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to explain financial data and balances
