Learn more at www.voala.org.JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSEThe Fleet Technician assists the Fleet Supervisor when advising on the mechanical status of VOALA vehicles and supporting the transportation requirements of the various programs. The Fleet Technician will manage the vehicle safety program, ensure tags & stickers are up to date, the designated vehicles have GPS devices (that are operational), review the vehicle logs, and oversee regular maintenance of the vehicles owned or leased by VOALA, and located at the various sites operated by VOALA. The technician is responsible for the overall maintenance of vehicles and usage.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCoordinate safety and maintenance for a fleet of over 200 vehicles.Assist Fleet Supervisor research and identify vehicle needs of VOALA programs.Inspect vehicles and advise Program Leaders on efficient driver scheduling and vehicle usage to maximize service to the organization.Ensure all VOALA vehicles have current registration and license plates.Track vehicle use, operations costs (fuel, tolls, scheduled maintenance, insurance) and vehicle costs (purchase, lease, licensing, major repairs) in order to identify most cost-effective means to satisfy VOALA transportation needs.Maintain detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection.Identify regional, cost effective, and reliable mechanic shops for maintenance and servicing requirements.Ensure compliance with CAL-OSHA and U.S. Department of Transport laws and regulations.Schedule and record regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency – minimize downtime and maintain schedules.Analyze data to increase transportation operational efficiency.Utilize GPS systems to monitor drivers and track vehicles in case of theft or inappropriate usage.QUALIFICATIONSREQUIREMENTS:Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications.EDUCATION:High school diploma or GED equivalent required.Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), must obtain passenger endorsement within 90 days of hire.EXPERIENCE:2-4 years in a logistics or transportation role.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s Degree in business, transportation, logistics or other related field preferred.
