Technical Specialist (NWP):ATEC is looking for a Technical Specialist to work on the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) NexGen Weather Program (NWP).ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:+ Provide 2nd level engineering support for the NextGen Weather Processor and possibly other AJW-171 Weather Systems.+ Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting for hardware, software or other technical issues.+ Identify and document defects, bugs and inconsistencies, technical assistance, and system maintenance in a ticketing system/database .+ Execute technical procedures related to installation, restoration, and system maintenance.+ Support system development/testing/integration/deployment activities for NWP.+ Review and comment on system engineering documents; system requirement documents; system testing documents.+ Attend system design reviews; technical interchange meetings; any other meetings as requested to support program and team.+ Provide on site support.+ Perform routine maintenance tasks in a lab or operational environment.+ May be tasked to support other systems within the organization.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:Required:+ Experience in documenting and tracking issues within ticketing systems/databases+ Possess a technical understanding of systems; databases; networking; computing environments; containerization (Kubernetes) and hardware+ Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills+ Working knowledge of Linux and various scripting languages+ Analytical and problem-solving ability+ Diplomacy when interacting with internal/external customers and stakeholdersPreferred:+ Flexibility to work in different environments+ Ability to identify time sensitive issues, resolutions, and possible escalation in high pressure situations.+ Interprets and analyzes complex information systems data to develop technical documentation, system diagrams+ Knowledge of Weather ProductsEDUCATION/YEARS of EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:+ High School Diploma or GED required and fifteen (15) years of related experience including at least ten (10) years of National Airspace Systems (NAS) experience.+ An Associates Degree in a related field will be accepted in lieu of two (2) years of experience.+ A Bachelors Degree in a related field will be accepted in lieu of four (4) years of experience.SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:+ US Citizenship or documented proof of eligibility to work in the US+ Applicants selected will be subject to a government investigation+ Has been living in the US for at least the past 3 yearsWORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:+ Must be willing to travel.+ On call for site support.+ Full-time position, standard work hours, no specified job duration.PAY RANGE:+ $80,000 $97,000BENEFITS:+ Health insurance+ Dental insurance+ Vision insurance+ Life insurance+ 401(k) matching+ Tuition reimbursement+ Paid time off+ Referral Bonuses+ Employee assistance program+ Employee discount program
