Job DescriptionThe Academically and Intellectually Gifted teacher is expected to plan, organize, and
provide direct and indirect instruction to students to address the academic, intellectual, social, and emotional needs

school personnel to ensure differentiation for all gifted learners is administered.VANCE COUNTY SCHOOLSJOB DESCRIPTIONPOSITIONS: AIG Specialist - Elementary or Middle School (Available August 2024)LOCATION: 3 Positions - Schools TBDSALARY: Teacher Salary ScheduleTERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 MonthsREPORTS TO: Chief Officer of Instruction & Innovation + AIG CoordinatorPOSITION SUMMARY: The Academically and Intellectually Gifted teacher is expected to plan, organize, andprovide direct and indirect instruction to students to address the academic, intellectual, social, and emotional needsof gifted learners. They will also promote advanced learning opportunities for all students, and collaborate withschool personnel to ensure differentiation for all gifted learners is administered.QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:Must hold valid North Carolina Educators Continuing Teaching LicenseMust hold certification in Gifted Education or in the process of receiving certification.Minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching experienceAbility to collect, analyze, and use dataKnowledgeable of technical material, software application, conflict resolution, regulations and policies, adult learning best practices, as well as curriculum and instructional methodsMust exhibit in-depth knowledge of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and strong instructional pedagogyKnowledgeable of North Carolina State and National Gifted StandardsAbility to work independently, manage time and resources to accomplish assigned tasksAbility to follow all local, state, and federal policies for North Carolina school educatorsRESPONSIBILITIES:Foster an atmosphere conducive to the holistic development of AIG identified learners, supporting their intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth.Directly and indirectly instruct students to address their academic, intellectual, social, and emotional needs.Design and adjust instructional materials and plans to cater to both advanced and AIG-identified learners at middle or elementary levels.Work alongside school personnel to enhance instructional strategies and student engagement through planning, coaching, co-teaching, and implementing differentiation and rigor.Organize and provide enrichment experiences that promote potential development within students augmenting their overall learning experience.Oversee the annual review of Differentiated Education Plans (DEPs), including organizing meetings with parents for discussions and approvals.Assist with the planning, development, and execution of the district's AIG plan and ensure accountability.Participate in the AIG School Site Review Team to support the screening, referral, identification, andplacement processes for gifted students, ensuring tailored educational pathways.Maintain active communication with students, parents, and the educational community to foster collaborative relationships.Coordinate and distribute instructional resources in partnership with the school AIG Lead.Regularly participate in AIG/PLC Leadership Team meetings to contribute to the professional growth of peers and self.Outreach and Events: Assist in organizing and hosting AIG Open Houses and Family Nights to engage the community and inform them about the program’s goals and achievements.Conduct biannual inventories of AIG materials to ensure resources are up-to-date and effectively utilized.Lead the District’s Talent Development Program utilizing a push-In model for all K-2 classrooms.Performs other related duties as requiredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formsRequires the ability to speak before groups of people with poise, voice control and confidenceMust be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of fingering, grasping, kneeling,sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motionPrimary Location
