Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Human Resources Operations for Open Sky Education is responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resources function for the organization including benefits, compensation, employee relations, training, performance management, workforce effectiveness/organizational development, change management, compliance, employee records, and other workplace initiatives. S/he is the driver of the strategy, support, and implementation of all Human Resources functions including team member relations, benefits, talent management and compliance for OSE and all of its affiliates.S/he will work closely with the Director of Recruiting, Finance & Payroll, Data & Applications, and schools to provide a wide range of quality Human Resources services to all levels of team members throughout the entire organization.Strategic LeadershipOversees and leads the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to compensation, benefits and leave; maintenance of the HRIS system, record-keeping and compliance; handbooks; disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development.Leads, supports and guides the HR team members in all aspects of the HR functionPlans, leads, develops and implements annual reviews and makes recommendations to executive management for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures and practices on team member mattersStrong business acumen and the ability to understand and align HR strategies with broader organizational goals and objectivesPrior experience leading and supporting a HR System implementation with a strong action orientation and drive for resultsMaintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures organization's complianceMonitors team member satisfaction and attrition levels and develops strategies and team member centered programs and activities to improve engagement and retentionProvide oversight and direction to ensure organizational compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all team member mattersCommunicates changes in the organization's team member policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followedLeads executive team and management in the annual review, preparation and administration of the organization's total rewards programConsults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the COO, on team member mattersDevelops and maintains a human resource information system that meets the organization's team member information needsEnsure compliance with Federal, State and Local Employment RegulationsEnsures compliance and claim response for EEOC, FMLA, Code of Conduct, Discrimination, Harassment and other legal/policy issues.Develop and maintain team member handbooks and policiesTeam Member, Community, and Vendor RelationsWorks directly with HR team and organizational leaders to assist them in implementing carrying out their responsibilities on team member mattersRecommends, evaluates and participates in staff career development for the organization to provide individuals with professional and personal growthCoaches/mentors HR team members at all levels of the organization; maintains positive relations.Participates on internal and external committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities and relationshipsDevelops and delivers written communications and presentations to communicate concepts related to one or more functional HR areas for leaders; develops and conducts training and presentations with the help of Generalists.Investigate complaints or concerns related to workplace issuesAdminister benefit plans, including establishing eligibility, timely responses to team members regarding coverage questions, assisting with onboarding and orientation, and recording changes to benefits and COBRA processingManage the Workers Compensation relationship with our vendorOversee human resources to develop and maintain a team member database and associated records/digital files for each team memberCollaborate with other leaders to ensure OSE and its affiliated corporations are exciting, supportive, and challenging places of employment where all team members become a part of our team and familyPerform other duties and responsibilities as requested or requiredQualificationsPassionate about serving Christ by serving His kids through the advancement of Christian educationLoves following the model of Christ to seek to love and serve others out of gratitude for His love and service to us.Desires to utilize a professional career in HR to care for the human resource needs of our special team of educators and staff as they care for the educational needs and opportunities of our students.Lives and acts as a biblical role model and Open Sky Education representative in your life for our scholars, team members and community.Aligns with and agrees to comply with our Code of Conduct and Statement of Faith.Agrees to engage in the faith life of our scholars and in collaboration with other team members10 + years of previous human resources experience including compensation, benefits, compliance, employee relations, training and developmentMinimum Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA or graduate degree preferredPrevious experience in a multi-state nonprofit organization preferredExperience with UKG and Paycor is a plusExperience managing others and managing a team of direct reportsProven leadership skills with well-rounded experience in human resources topicsStrong proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookExcellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to establish positive relationsEducational ExcellenceIntegrity, credibility, and passionate commitment to Open Sky Education’s mission of providing a full and lasting education, accessible and affordable for all childrenForming CharacterDeep passion for urban, faith-based education and closing the achievement gap.Resource ManagementKeen analytic, organization and complex problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretationCollaborative RelationshipsStrong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and exceptionally responsive to customers and candidates;
