Open Until FilledJob SummaryIn collaboration with the University of Utah College of Health Dean and the Director of Advancement, the Alumni Relations Director (ARD) is a dynamic leader who creates and implements the strategic direction of a comprehensive alumni and constituent engagement program. Develops, coordinates, promotes, maintains, and evaluates programs, services, and special events sponsored by the College of Health Advancement in support of College of Health alumni, faculty, and students. Initiates and supports innovative, strategic engagement initiatives. Responsible for productive and collaborative relationships across the College of Health and University of Utah campus system and with alumni and invested constituents across the region and nation.The ARD reports to the Director of Advancement for the College of Health.ResponsibilitiesDirects vision and strategy for alumni association communications, alumni and student programs, and events.Creates, implements, and evaluates a strategic communication plan for alumni and constituents.Promotes the vision, mission, goals, and core values of the College of Health.Provides strategic direction and communication for the Alumni Board and board committees.Works with the College of Health Advancement team to ensure strong, life-long affiliations with alumni, donors, and invested constituents.Conducts discovery and identification visits with alumni and constituents.Executes alumni-focused communications and campaigns to raise philanthropic funds.Collaborates with University of Utah Alumni Office and U Health Advancement staff.Develops and supervises outreach programs to engage alumni and constituents.Supervises planning and execution of special College of Health events.Represents the organization at various university, community, and business meetings.Maintains effective collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.Ensures policies and risk management are properly followed.Ability to work evening and weekend hours, as necessary.Must have reliable transportation for local travel.Perform other related duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a related field plus four years of related experience required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.Experience in alumni relations in a non-profit institution preferred. Experience coordinating volunteers, supervising staff, budgeting, and creating publications also preferred.This position is not responsible for providing patient care.Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.PreferencesExperience in alumni relations with a higher education academic institution preferred.Experience in strategic planning and execution, Board development, program evaluation, events management, volunteer coordination, and managing a team preferred.Demonstrated ability to establish, cultivate, and steward meaningful relationships with donors.Additional InformationThe University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems (“URS”).
