The Assistant AD for Major Gifts works to actively qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects and donors in support of priority projects for Utah Athletics. Meets regularly with major and principal gift donors and prospective donors to build meaningful relationships. Creates a balanced portfolio of donor, potential donors and solicitation targets tailored to the needs of the organization. Supports the University of Utah’s goals and mission. Acts as a catalyst between departments, faculty, staff, students, coaches, alumni, community, and external entities to ensure continuity and quality of advancement engagement. This position reports to the Associate AD for Development as a dual report to both University Advancement and Utah Athletics.Responsibilities

Primary role of the Assistant AD for Major Gifts is to actively qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni and friends of the University of Utah capable of making a gift of $25,000+ beyond Crimson Club ticket-related giving.Assists with the aggressive growth of the Crimson Club Champions Alliance donor pool/community.Assists with the development and growth of legacy giving benefitting Athletics.Assists with the stewardship and solicitation of NIL supporters, season ticket holders, and new premium seat holders.Assists in securing and stewarding leadership annual gifts within the Crimson Club Scholarship Circle.Collaborates throughout the campus community, particularly University Advancement, to ensure joint efforts to grow philanthropy in Athletics and across the University community while completing all reports and work in alignment with University Advancement policies and best practices.Collaborates within the Athletics Department to ensure alignment with the key areas of the Crimson Club (Annual Giving, Ticket Sales, Ticket Operations), Major Gifts/NIL staff, Utah Sports Properties, external relations units, as well as coaches, staff and other related personnel and areas throughout Athletics in order to grow revenues for the benefit of Utah Athletics.Enacts strategies consistent with the University of Utah’s continuous quality improvement program.Assists in advocating and promoting new and existing programs and services to internal and external audiences.Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communication, Public Relations, English, or a related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Five years experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, business, public relations, annual, corporate or foundation giving which includes two years of budgeting and supervisory experience. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Experience in grant or proposal writing, public speaking, a background working with print and/or electronic media, an understanding of university fundraising practices and personnel management is preferred.Highly Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree; Four years of major gift experience at a Division I athletic department.Additional Information:
