Position Overview

The Department of Occupational Therapy is seeking adjunct faculty to teach graduate-level courses in a variety of topic areas of OT fundamentals, Musculoskeletal Fundamentals, Neurological Fundamentals, Level I Fieldwork, Advanced Topics, Pediatrics, and Professional Practice, Administration and Policy.

Position Information

Working Position Title: 2024-2025 Occupational Therapy Adjunct

Appointment Length: 4 months up to 10 months

Requirements and Preferences

Must be a licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of North Carolina.

Must hold a minimum of Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.

Three (3) years clinical experience in area(s) assigned for teaching such as physical disabilities and rehabilitation, mental health, or other OT practice or emerging area.

Department Required Skills

Adhere to and enforce departmental policies and procedures.

Participate in meetings with faculty/course coordinator regarding course objectives and assignments.

Instruct and assist students individually, or in small groups to reinforce learning and to master assignments and techniques.

Model, demonstrate, and coach students through proper techniques as necessary to support course objectives and skill development.

Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of educational and therapeutic equipment and modalities.

Observe students’ performance and record relevant data to assess performance and progress.

Grade assignments in accordance with the grading criteria.

Promote and enforce safety with students, consumers, and others both in the university and other settings.

Track and monitor equipment use, acquisition, and inventory.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Adjunct Faculty serves as instructor of the teaching-learning process to deliver course content, direct skill laboratories, and/or related fieldwork experiences.

Responsibilities may include providing instruction, engaging students in the demonstration and practice of assessment and treatment techniques.

Providing the supervision necessary to ensure safe and effective performance.

Timely grading of assignments and posting of grades along with being available for posted office hours are essential aspects of the position.

Salary : Commensurate with education and experience
