Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Peptide Research, University of MichiganDescriptionThe Department of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Michigan has an immediate opening for a peptide chemist. Project opportunities shall include, but are not limited to, the discovery of discovery of peptides from natural sources, peptide synthesis, biological testing, peptidomics analysis, and screening library design. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work in a team environment collaborating with biologists, geneticists, and other chemists working to solve critical problems in the drug discovery sciences. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow must demonstrate an ability to balance a portfolio of research projects and effectively communicate results (both orally and in written reports) in a timely manner to collaborating partners. The lab director will work closely with the individual toward the development of essential professional skills including mentoring junior lab members, general laboratory management, and proposal development. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will receive written and oral feedback, as well as support in creating and revising an individual professional development plan.QualificationsA Ph.D. at the time of employment in the chemical sciences (or pertinent research in an allied field) is required. Experience in the form of published, hands-on work concerning peptide analysis, organic synthesis, peptide purification, and peptide structure determination is necessary. Familiarity with microbial natural products, genome analysis, and bioassay design/testing are preferred skill sets but not required.Interested candidates should send a CV that outlines past academic and/or professional experiences, a summary of publications, and a list of at least three professional references (with contact information).
