San Francisco, CA. This position offers full benefits, sick time, 401K, paid holidays, and paid time off.The Scientist III – Open Access Instrumentation Support is a laboratory-based role that operates and maintains open access liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) instrumentation and other duties as assigned by the client.ResponsibilitiesChecks instrument performance daily, and performs routine upkeep of open access LC-MS instrumentsResponds to end-user repair calls for LC-MS instrumentation and troubleshoots/repairs simple issues such as leaks or clogsSubmits and coordinates repair tickets for more complex issuesCoordinates cryogen orders, and performs weekly liquid nitrogen fills for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) instrumentsPerforms daily sample clean up on the open access NMR systemsCleans electrospray ionization (ESI) process source and runs standards monthlyAssists with preparation of samples and set up of data acquisition for analysis by liquid chromatography (LC), by LC-MS, and Circular Dichroism Spectroscopy (CD)Documents LC-MS performance and uptimeAssists with purity analysis of investigational compounds by LCMaintains accurate documentation and recordsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in a relevant field with at least 3-5 years of experience or a Master’s degree in a relevant field with at least 1-2 years of experienceRequired Skills and ExperienceExperience in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and hands-on knowledge inLC-MS are required with an interest in expanding knowledge/background in LC-MS methoddevelopment and optimization, validation, data analysis, and sample preparation techniquesExperience in mass spectral data interpretation including structural assignments of unknown compoundsExperience with preparation of mobile phases for LC-MS instrumentsEffective organizational, multi-tasking, and oral/written communications skills as the environment is fast-paced and results-orientedWell-developed written and oral communication capabilitiesProficient in written and spoken English, is requiredAbout ParexelParexel FSP includes the CMC Operations group.
