Responsibilities

The George Washington University Hospital (GWU Hospital) is a 385-bed tertiary care, academic medical center located in downtown Washington, DC next to the Foggy Bottom metro. The GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), adjacent to the hospital, is the 11th oldest medical center in the country and the 1st in the nation's capital.The mission of GWU Hospital is to provide the highest quality of healthcare, advanced medical technology, and world-class service to its patients in an academic medical center dedicated to education and research.Main tasks include:Computed Tomography TechnologistUnder the direction of the Department Director/Manager/CT Lead, the Computed Tomography Technologist is responsible for producing quality diagnostic images of human anatomy and vascular structures following prescribed protocols.Performs examinations in a proficient, courteous, and professional manner to favorably promote the services offered at the facility.Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations.Demonstrates radiation protection/safety for patients, staff, and self, as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines.Maintains equipment, exam rooms, and work areas in a neat and safe condition.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, regulatory or accreditation requirements.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.Intermediate to high reasoning skills to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.Demonstrates knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory bodies, e.g., The Joint Commission and American College of Radiology (ACR).Demonstrates compliance with hospital policies and procedures at all times.Demonstrates strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.Demonstrates ability to relate to clinical personnel and medical staff, as well as interact well with the public.Demonstrates ability to perform CT exams independently.Demonstrates ability to follow physician's orders.Demonstrates ability to access patency of IV sites before injections.Demonstrates ability to look up lab values and pull related exams for radiologist viewing.QualificationsHigh School Graduate or equivalent required.Diploma from a certified school of radiologic technology.Minimum one year experience as a registered Computed Tomography Technologist required, acute care experience preferred.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR Certification through the American Heart Association required.Active American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT)(CT) license required.Committed to our culture that Every Moment Matters.Committed to the surrounding community.About Universal Health ServicesOne of the nation's largest and most respected providers of hospital and healthcare services, Universal Health Services, Inc.
