The Accountant is responsible for all accounting and fiscal management of grants and contracts awarded to the State Attorney’s Office. This individual works with the Fiscal Director in developing, implementing, and providing ongoing financial oversight to grants management operations, ensuring the appropriate use and accurate reporting of all financial transactions on grants and contracts. This position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and the work schedule for this position is 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.The Job Responsibilities are:Preparing budgets and monitoring budget activity for grantsReporting and financial complianceEnsuring accounting transactions are properly recorded and consistent with terms of the grant/contract agreementResolving grant related accounting and reporting issuesPreparing monthly budget-versus-actual status reportsIdentifying issues, concerns and problems, and initiate resolutionApproving invoices and expenses related to various grant programs managedEntering grant transactions in the state accounting system and performing month-end reconciliationsPreparing invoices and requests for reimbursements from funding agencies and reconciling grant expenses to funder reportsCoordinate with grant program management to ensure the budget and financial requirements are in line with the programmatic goals and objectives of the grantMaintaining efficient electronic filing systems for financial recordsPerforming other related duties as assignedThe Minimum Requirements are:A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related fieldMust have a minimum of three (3) years of work experience performing various accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, purchasing, budgeting, and auditingRelated work experience may be considered on a year-for-year basis for the required education college and grant experienceMust have working knowledge of ExcelThe Preferred Qualifications and Skills are:Having knowledge of generally accepted accounting principlesHaving grant management/coordinating experienceSpecific Skills and Characteristics:The Successful Candidate must be able to:Possess and demonstrate excellent analytical and organizational skillsPossess and demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skillsPossess and demonstrate a good understanding of the organization’s overall business and its objectivePossess and demonstrate good knowledge of planning and strategizing financial and budgeting issuesPossess and demonstrate experience with basic financial management skills including developing and monitoring budgets and financial reportingBe a multi-tasker with strong ability to work under pressure, independently and meet stringent deadlinesBe proficient in using computers with related knowledge of software programs and InternetWork well in a group/team environment with a positive and professional attitude, and team spiritBe flexible with their work scheduleYearly Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $80,000.00 – Salary commensurate with experienceTo apply for this position, please complete and submit an application, and updated resume to: SAOJobs@MiamiSAO.com, with the Subject: ACCOUNTANT.
