Job DutiesDirect the MFCU Staff (106) who are conducting multi-million/billion-dollar criminal and civil investigations and prosecutions. Daily contact with first level Supervisors, Managers and Deputy Directors of the MFCU. Oversee investigative and audit staff to ensure investigations are proceeding correctly. Review, evaluate and, when necessary, recognize and overhaul the MFCU policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal requirements. Submit draft budget for Attorney General’s approval and for submission to federal government. Monitor Unit budget of approximately $18 million annually. Review monthly expenditures. Review and recommend requests for expenditures, including travel, travel reimbursement, goods, and services. Responsible for preparation and filing of the federal budget reports concerning the Unit’s expenditures. Ensure that proper procedures are followed to account for the equipment. Responsible for the preparation of required statistical and substantive reports concerning case activity within the Unit. Maintains liaison with the Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS). Pursuant to a Memorandum of Understanding, meetings are held routinely and on a continuing basis between the Director of MFCU and the Director of the SURS Unit at DMAS. Liaison with FBI, HHS-OIG, DEA, FDA, U.S Attorney’s Office’s, and the National Association of Medicaid Fraud Control Units.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have a related undergraduate degree or commensurate experience.

Prior investigative management experience is required.

Extensive experience in investigations involving health care fraud, financial crimes, nontypical organized crime, undercover, and covert operations.

Extensive experience in managing a large group of investigators, auditors, data analysts, and attorneys.

Experience in working with multiple state and federal law enforcement agencies.

Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Candidates should have demonstrated computer proficiency with word processing and database management systems (Microsoft products preferred).

Criminal background check will be completed on successful candidate.
