As a leader of our team, you will use your skill set and experience to help us continue to grow our retail operation and improve our guest experience. We are committed to providing exceptional customer service, and that will include you!**The Accountabilities:*** Understand and utilize the discipline of 5 Steps of Leadership:+ Set clear expectations+ Train & Develop in both a formal and day to day capacity+ Provide timely feedback to create accountability+ Be consistent to develop disciplines+ Reward & Recognize using formal programs as well as day to day coaching.* Set SMART goals and coach behaviors to achieve them. Leverage performance management tools to enhance morale and drive results. Achieve results in the role of Sales Manager.* Establish a schedule to meet the needs of the business utilizing Sales and KPIs.* Recruit, retain, and develop a diverse range of talented people.* Create a positive work environment.* Partner in the development of strategy and help to translate it into specific priorities, objectives, and action plans.* Manage time, projects, processes, and resources to produce desired outcomes.* Uphold all company policies as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures.* Ability to communicate effectively with all levels, even under pressure.* Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and external customers. Coordinate with other departments as needed. Resolve difficult customer problems. Inform manager of customer issues, suggestions, or requests. Offer suggestions to improve the operations of the department. Maintain friendly, helpful demeanor.* Communicate with buyers or vendors to ensure that inventory levels are maintained at a suitable level. Ensure that new stock or supplies are shelved or stored appropriately. Arrange for the return of items that are unsold or overstocked. Participate in and ensures accuracy of physical inventory.* May open or close department. Ensure that department is neat and orderly. Create sales displays to attract customers.* Perform staff-level work during peak demand hours or understaffed situations as needed. May assist in answering phones and providing information or transferring calls to the appropriate party or department. Operates department computers and/or University information system terminals.* Assist with planning and coordination of special Bookstore or University events and supervision of staff during events.* Maintain a thorough understanding of all Bookstore and University policies and procedures as well as applicable government and industry standards. Ensure adherence to these policies.* Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.**The Qualifiers:*** Education: Associates Degree* Experience: 2 years.* Expertise:+ Supervisory experience in high-volume retail environment.+ Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills.+ Ability to supervise, train, coach, and counsel employees.+ Knowledge of marketing strategies and budget management.+ Proficiency in metrics using available tools and critical thinking Mystery Shops, Retail Math (Sales Comp, ADS, UPT, AUR), Productivity (Sales per Employee Hour, Units per Hour processed) and Controllable Expenses (shrink and payroll).+ Must maintain a professional appearance and adhere to USC Auxiliary Services grooming guidelines.+ Demonstrates strong communication skills, both oral and written, as well as listening strengths+ Experienced with business knowledge skills inclusive of performance reporting and interpretation, fiscal responsibility/budget management, merchandise planning competencies+ Demonstrated high level of business acumen and clear understanding of behaviors that drive Sales & KPIs.
