The Corporate Controller will oversee the financial operations of multiple properties within Arbor Lodging's portfolio.
This job will be based out of Arbor Lodging's corporate office in the West Loop of Chicago, and is in office Monday - Thursday.
Duties & Responsibilities:Develop and maintain practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.Manage a multitude of accounting activities, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank/balance sheet reconciliations, and financial report preparation.Support hotel properties and provide financial information to other professional service providers, tax accountants, etc.Oversee the accuracy of financial reporting for the portfolio.Oversee bank and balance sheet reconciliations.Perform payroll reconciliations.Review and approve account classifications.Process property tax returns in compliance with state and local tax jurisdictions.Implement accounting procedures and necessary training to promote GAAP compliance and alignment with the AHLA Uniform System of Accounts.Identify and communicate process inefficiencies or operational issues and recommend appropriate solutions.Review the accuracy of AP and AR transactions.Ensure the G/L includes all transactions and maintain overall accuracy.Maintain capitalization policy.Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and cash flow statements.Support external auditors in completing annual audits.Collaborate with Hotel Teams, Regional Operations Team, VP Finance, and SVP Finance to ensure effective coordination between Accounting and Operations.Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required, CPA or MBA a plus.At least 5 years of experience in hotel finance or real estate.Experience with M3 and hotel PMS systems a plus.Superior ability to prioritize and focus in a high-paced, multi-tasking environment.Ability to quickly learn and use new technology software applications.Superior communication skills.Cooperative team player with the ability to work independently.Interest in personal and professional development and advancement.Ability to deliver accurate financial packages for assigned properties on time.Low error rates and overall quality of work output.Effective management skills.Proficiency in evolving accounting and technology.Self-motivated to meet deadlines and objectives.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Benefits:
