A real estate firm in New York City is currently seeking an experienced professional to join their Finance Group as their new Corporate Controller. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, the Corporate Controller will be responsible for overseeing revenue accounting, broker payroll, accounts receivable and treasury teams.
Responsibilities:
The Corporate Controller will:Manage domestic and offshore teams, and will collaborate with international accounting teamsOversee the month-end close process as it relates to accounting for revenue and commissions as well as for related costsManage the Revenue accounting and broker payroll teams and partner with the related functional partners across the companyManage the close tool, including holding the various accounting teams accountable for their close timelineReview and suggest journal entries as needed, including reviewing account reconciliations, intercompany reconciliation, subledger reconciliations, as well as judgement-based reconciliationsEnsure consistent application of revenue and expense recognition across all entities as per US GAAPOversee internal collection activities and partner with external collection agencies, as neededOversee the cash application team and assist with the resolution of unapplied cashOversee the accounting for funds held in trust / escrow bank accounts, including regulatory oversightOversee the treasury function, with a focus on cash management, cash forecasting and debt covenant trackingReview the monthly consolidated income statement and balance sheet analyticsCollaborate with the Financial Planning & Analysis team on the budget, as well as on the month-end close process and related analytics and reportingCollaborate with revenue-impacting business partners to drive accuracy and completeness of transactionsPerform other duties, as neededQualifications:
10+ years of Accounting experience with at least 6 years of experience in a Supervisory roleBachelor's DegreeCertified Public Accountant (CPA)Combination of Big 4 experience and private industryPrior experience designing, implementing, and documenting policies and procedures in a SOX environmentDesired Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and/or Commercial Real EstateExperience working in a public companyExperience working in large multinational businesses across multiple geographical entities
