About the Company & Controller Opportunity:Our new client is a leader in the construction industry Maryland. Due to a recent acquisition, they are hiring a Controller to join their accounting team on a contract to hire basis.The Controller will work with a tight knit accounting team. This company is big on internal development and promoting from within.Typical schedule: M-F 8am-5pm,

100% on site in Laurel, MDReports directly to the President

Job Duties of the Controller:Manage and support all accounting operations, including billing, AR, AP, GL, POC accounting, inventory accounting and revenue recognition.Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances to the VP of Accounting.Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.Support month-end and year-end close process and procedures.Assist with annual audit.Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.Supervise small accounting teamAdditional controller duties as assigned.

Qualifications of the Controller:5+ years of full cycle accounting experience at a senior levelBachelors in Accounting, Finance, Business or related requiredConstruction industry experience or project based accounting experience a plus!Knowledge of local sales and use tax filing requirements, percentage-of-completion accounting, revenue recognition, and general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close processSupervisory experience and ability to lead a small accounting teamExperience using Sage 50 and/or Great Plains preferred
