JOB COMPLEXITY/SCOPE:

The Analyst Cost/Estimator/Scheduler will collaborate with various teams to create and manage project schedules. They will perform quantity takeoff, prepare estimates, and work under the guidance of project controls professionals.

SUPERVISION:

May supervise the work of subordinate schedulers or cost estimators.

JOB DUTIES:

Schedule:

Help with tracking and reporting costs.Aid in keeping track of work completed compared to planned work.Assist in managing changes to the project.Prepare reports on project costs and cash flow with guidance.Contribute to monthly/quarterly reports.Help verify invoices based on work completed.Assist in developing detailed project schedules.Collect and update project progress.Review project specifications and drawings to understand the work and estimate requirements.Estimate the materials needed and familiarize themselves with software tools.Calculate estimates for different parts of the project.Learn to use cost-estimating software.Keep files with detailed information to support the estimates, including current prices from suppliers.Cost Control & Estimating:

Work with the project management and scheduling team to set project goals and analyze progress.QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management or equivalent combination of education, training and/or related experience.Required 0-4 years of Construction Management, Estimating, Project Controls, Engineering or equivalent work experience.Well -developed communications skills are required to effectively engage all levels of the project team, client organization, designers and contractors in capital cost-related matters.Strong Excel spreadsheet skills required to perform offline studies including data collection and analysis.REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

Job duties in an office setting require the following:

Ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to move throughout the office.The ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.Good hand-eye coordination; the ability to reach with hands and arms; and arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp.Close visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate office equipment, prepare and review data and figures, and view a computer monitor.The ability to talk and hear.The ability to work in an upper level of a high-rise office building (Cotter Chicago office and some client offices).The ability to handle temperature changes consistent with inside environmental conditions.Mental abilities including remembering, reasoning, concentrating to remain on task, reading, problem solving, managing concurrent tasks, and the ability to understand and follow directions.Job duties in an office setting require the following:

Normal color vision.The ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, etc., using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.The ability to move across uneven surfaces and the ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling on uneven or slippery surfaces.The ability to stoop, kneel, or crouch.The ability to stand for sustained periods of time.The ability to work in confined spaces and narrow passageways.The ability to work in high places.The ability to handle outside environmental conditions including extreme heat, extreme cold, loud noise levels, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, and oils.
