LaSalle Network is working with a private equity-backed financial services company to find an outstanding
Controller
to lead the accounting and GAAP financial reporting. The
Controller
will enforce the company's finance-related policies, procedures and budget, identify, implement and streamline financial systems, and oversee internal and external financial audits as applicable. As a key business partner to the Leadership Team, the
Controller
will maintain and direct the day-to-day activities of an accounting team and will advise the CFO and CEO on the impact of technical accounting measures related to short and long-term company strategy.
Controller Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of adherence to GAAP, including proactively identifying accounting treatment for new transactions and pronouncements; own the company's technical accounting standardsDrive department change efforts and process improvements, leveraging accounting staff to help develop and execute solutionsAssess existing software systems and tools and recommend and implement new systems where neededDesign/refine an organizational structure to achieve the department's goals and objectives; establish clear roles and responsibilities, conducting regular performance appraisals and coaching and developing key employeesMaintain oversight of General Ledger functions; manage and oversee the General Accounting Systems including Chart of Accounts, Internal Controls, Reporting and research as neededOversee the production of periodic financial report; ensure that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principlesOversee the Payroll process and ensure the correct treatment and payment of all salaries, employee and employer obligations and the submission of all relevant forms to the authorities and the employeesDirect the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual management accounting reporting (both internal and external), financial close and external audit, ensuring quality and administering to strict timelineDevelopment of reports for management or regulatory bodies
Controller Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or financeCPA required5+ years of experience as a controller, assistant controller or similar positionDeep knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulationsExcellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.)Proven track record in driving operational excellence both within the finance function and among other staff by implementing operating metrics and tracking systemsWell-organized with ability to prioritizeExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAttention to detail and problem-solving ability
