As the Controller, you are entrusted with managing the accounting, reporting, and finance-related functions. You will play a significant role in the day-to-day operations of the back office of an investment firm and supporting a high-net-worth family. The Controller will report and work with the Chief Financial Officer to support the firm through reviewing transactions, financial statements, and analysis.
Responsibilities
Oversee the accounting team with fostering an environment of trust and authenticityManage all day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, cash transfers, deal fundings, expense reports and financial reportingReview of capital calls and distributions for fundings and private equity investmentsManage the monthly NAV close process to record unrealized changes in the portfolioMaintain financial reporting packages and other required financial information and analytics, including training accounting staff on any changesPrepare financial analysis based on financial reportsMonitor cash balances to avoid shortfalls, prepare transfers when neededReview transactions, reconciliations, and financial reportsEnsure policies and procedures follow professional standards and implement changes when necessaryManager workpapers for annual tax compliance and liaison with external tax providersEstablish (in coordination with CFO) financial and operating benchmarks, process monitoring, and reporting standardsSkills and Qualifications
Strong understanding of banking processes and financial statementsExperience in maintaining accurate accounting recordsAbility to work with a small team, learn quickly and manage multiple workstreamsStrong interpersonal and communication skills coupled with strong analytical skillsExceptional work ethic, seeks continuous improvement and takes responsibilityEducation and Experience
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related fieldSeven or more years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
